the space between.

school and job.
You’ll be fine. You’re 25. Feeling unsure and lost is part of your path. Don’t avoid it. See what those feelings are showing you and use it. Take a breath. You’ll be okay. Even if you don’t feel okay all the time.

that one time.

hey remember that one time when i went on a multi-month hiatus from blogging?
oh wait, that's every few months.
sorry friends.

it has been a little crazy over here.
school is busy, busy, busy with projects on papers on meetings but none-the-less, finally feeling like i am making a difference in the healthcare system and the sfgh patient's lives.
a great but often overwhelming feeling.
thanksgiving, masters exam, graduation, b's graduation, holiday parties, christmas, all things job related, and much more coming up in the next bit. lots of fabulous things to look forward too.
can't wait to have you along for the ride!
(via)
so that's whats up around these parts.
no promises, but i hope that i can be a little better over my favorite season of them all.
too many fun things to celebrate over the coming holiday season.

oh and in my time away, i became an RN- wahoo!

lessons i'm learning.

1. there is a reason why people are where they are in their life- take time to ask about it.
2. let the world tell you no- try until you have exhausted all else.
3. if something is a priority in your life you will make time for it- if not, you are choosing to not make it a priority.
4. surrounding yourself with others that differ from you will allow you to grow- comfortability comes in facing the unknown.
5. personal time is more valuable than the world makes it out to be- reconnect with your reality.
6. taking time to 'just be' is the best time you can take.

I think we realize a little more 'something' about ourselves each time we extend ourselves to others. take time to do it this week.

personal gallery.

trying to nurture my artistic side more these days.
painting more often,
trying to get into some ceramics and art classes,
crafting for summer parties and friends events.

art around the apartment has really been great and i can't wait to one day have a beautiful gallery wall.

ah how perfect and simple.
switch out the art and photos now and then.
it will be perfect.

holiday gift guides.

gift giving is one of my absolute favorite things.
i love christmas shopping and our family has always been invested in giving personalized gifts.
i come from a family of incredibly thoughtful people that have taught me the value of giving all year, small or big,
just to say thank you, i'm sorry, hello, thinking of you, or in celebration.
a great deal of that comes from the closeness of our extended family (aka we know ever little, tiny detail about everyone) too close for comfort? sometimes.

in the spirit of giving, i have linked up a few of my favorite gift guides.
still wondering what to get your friends and family?
check them out.

as much as i love giving purchased gifts, i am also a sucker for making a portion of my gifts too.
check back later on this week for a few little handmade gifts that i'll be giving this year.
happy giving!

happy monday.

bringing it back (for today at least)
happy monday friends!

tax day is officially tomorrow for mom (cpa)- hooray for margaritas and homemade chip celebrations.

i get to see my b this weekend when he runs the slo marathon and we have a birthday date- such a stud.

wine tasting and picnicking this weekend in the edna valley with some of my girl loves to celebrate a few birthdays.

i absolutely love nursing- school is hard but i can't wait for the day.

my fun little additions to 'find me elsewhere' on the right hand side of my blog- check 'em out.

birthday plans, lunch outings, and giants games in my near future.

today i will study, paint, cook, study, work out, and then study some more.
sounds good to me.

March 25, 2012

permission.

today is march 25th.
and you know what that means?
i officially have permission to talk about my birthday,
because it is exactly one month before april 25th.
(family rule #4: you can only talk about your birthday one month before it occurs.
someone (me) forced the family to make this rule at an early age because of over-zealousness)
if you don't know me well, i love my birthday.
always have and probably always will.

happy almost 23rd (ouch) birthday to me!

February 29, 2012

leap year post.

random ramblings for wednesday, february 29th.

::: another 'fave find' that i will share with you later this week. an incredible art store right around the corner that some how finds its way into almost everything i do now... art class? bored at home? wishing i wasn't studying? blog inspiration? they all lead me to believe that i may need to make a few purchases and have an art day this weekend.

::: pathophysiology and pharmacology. you tricky devils you. i am quite positive that i have cumulatively made more flashcards in the past six weeks than over my whole life. too bad i aced your first test. boom roasted.

::: slight addiction to all things involving photosynthesis. succulents, herb pots, raised bed miniature garden via pinterest, hanging crate plants. i think 'sloat' did this to me and now all of a sudden i am only drawn to the apartments online that have garden/backyard access or large porches. maybe a trip to the 'japanese tea gardens' in golden gate park this weekend?

::: shots. (a year ago this would be a different kind) but for now, a painful amount of shots yesterday has me feeling yucky and achey (i guess last years kind does the same thing) but really, the kind with the needle. thanks for humbling me usf student clinic after i learned how cool it was to give them last week. officially grounded again.

::: shout out to my walnut girls, b, han, and the fam in slo. especially since you guys are the only ones reading this. miss you all and fyi you're awesome.

::: scrolled thru my entire blog the other day and was pleasantly surprised to be able to look back a year or two or three ago to see what i was up too. pretty cool embition, pretty cool.

::: remember how i told you i was getting off crutches, well not so much. still on them (super lame). yes, i am on week eight. but get to start physical therapy next week. hallelujah for movement.

::: an overwhelming amount of indulgences this past weekend served me well but has shot my motivation to do anything productive this week. thin mint girl scout cookies, instyle magazine purchase, girl dinner date, oscars cheese and wine night, farmers market veggie buys, and first experience with a cappuccino on a wonderful brunch outing (i love caffiene). studying doesn't quite compare when you put it next to those goodies. too bad emily, its time to study again.

happy leap year!
